Something amazing has happened! We are finally, after 3 years, ready to buy a house!!!! Praise the Lord!!!!!!!!
When we first moved to Southern California, the plan was to rent first since we hadn't sold our home back in Michigan, then buy a house by the time our lease was complete. However, things didn't go according to plan. First off, the housing market crashed soon after we relocated. Then we had to get our own financial house in order. It has seemed that buying a house was always six months out, but six months has turned out to be three years. It's been difficult to be patient with the Lord's plan for our lives concerning buying a home here. Difficult is a term I use for myself and this process, for I have struggled with it so much these past few years. But alas, the time has come!
Last week we were pre-approved for a loan, and we began our home search. And this afternoon we put an offer in one particular house. And now I must wait, again, as the bank that owns the home will review all offers on Tuesday. But I'll take this waiting over the past three years of waiting any day!

Our joke is we always say, "This time next year, we'll be in a bigger place." It's been this time next year for a couple of years now and we remain in the same place, but it's been good - house prices keep falling, our savings keeps rising, and we have been able to take our time and learn what areas we want to live in and what we really do and don't want in a house.
