Alright. Many of you have asked what exactly I said when it was my turn to say something of interest at the audition for Deal or No Deal. Here is the gist of what I said:
Hi, my name is Deanne and I was young and stupid when I got married when I was 20. But by the grace of God my husband and I will be celebrating our 11th anniversary this summer. The Lord, my husband and my children are the joy of my life.
Sheesh, when I write it out it doesn't seem like I said much! But when your standing in front of the person that will choose whether you get on the show or not and you only have 20 seconds, time seems to fly!
Do you think that what I said was worth remembering? You tell me. I'm thinking no, but hopefully I'll be wrong. We were told that once we said our schpeal that we were to leave, no questions or badgering. If we were chosen then we will be notified or reached with a phone call. It could be tomorrow or six months from now, or never. We were also told that about eight thousand people showed up that day for the auditions. So, again, is what I said something that is memorable in the midst of seven thousand nine hundred and ninety nine other people? I didn't think so either.

Frankly, I think you're too normal considering the contestants I've seen on that show. For me though, the "young and stupid" phrase really sticks out. You might have a chance. I think if they call you can consider it a miracle, and if they don't, you can consider it a compliment. ~hugs~
I like what u said ;) I think I was in that same "young and stupid' boat w/marriage....hahahha.
I think you should have told them that you and your crazy friend in Nebraska have the same birthday but a year apart and it also just happens to be a Mexican holiday "El Dia de Los Muertos" that is celebrated with tasty treats like "bread of the dead" and candy shaped like skulls and skeletons.
But what you said was good, too. I think a lot of people are young and stupid when they get married, but not many have the commitment to stick it out or the insight to recognize their own contribution to the bad as well as the good. Congrats on 11 years. We're coming up on 7 next month. Wahoo! I love being married to my fabulous man!
Hey, I didn't know that about our birthdays being 'the day of the dead'! Yeah, I coulda used that!!! Stinkin' lousy! :)
Actually, I should have said something about having a blog and that he (the casting director) had just been blogged! Coulda, shoulda, woulda!!!
Kim....thanks for the compliment about being too 'normal' for the show. Yes, it would be a miracle if either I or Ryan were picked.
Deanne - I totally hope they call you!
One time, I applied online to go on Wheel of Fortune. But they never called me back. Maybe if I had been able to use your schpeal!!
You never know - maybe they will give you a call. Sometimes God answers prayers in strange ways. :)
PS - I don't think you were stupid for getting married!
I don't tink you were stupid for getting married, just stupid (or maybe "had unrealistic expectations") when you got married.
You are so brave. You got all of that out without falling over or tripping or mixing up your words? You are so cool!
I hope they call!
