Daily Trivia

Yahoo! is an acronym for "Yet Another Hierarchical Officious Oracle."

Fact-o-rama? Or Crap-ola?

Ok, so this is really coming from tomorrows daily trivia question calendar that graces our counter (among, many, other things!). I didn't care too much for today's so I skipped ahead! I'll post the answer tomorrow (so Wendy will have plenty of time to read this post and make her guess!) *big grin*

I'm out of ideas for what to write about today. Maybe I'll come up with something as I run some errands and go to the park for lunch with the kids and a new friend? Let's all hope so, for I fear I'll loose my loyal 2 readers!

I get to vote! Yippeee! Yahooo!

I'm going to go with Fact. It seems just weird enough to be true.

Do I get to count as one of those loyal readers?

I say, Crap-ola. Yet Another Hierarchial Officious Oracle doesn't quite have the right ring to me. :)

Yeah I have a winner....someone (or two in this case) actually read my blog! I love you all....er, or should I say, both? :)

You can count me as a third reader of your blog. I have no idea but I'm going to go with crap.

I think you definitely have more than two loyal readers!

I'm going with crap. It may be an acronym that is used, but I don't think was the original.

Ah, shucks guys! I'm feelin' the bloggy love!

Ok, onto the answer!!!!!

Fact-o-rama! Yahoo! got its start in a trailer on the Stanford University campus. Founders David Filo and Jerry Yang were studying electrical engineering in 1994 when they devised a method cataloging sites and information on the Internet. Though the site was first called Jerry and David's Guide to the World Wide Web, the name was eventually changed to Yahoo! The founders incorporated their business in 1995, finding ample funding in California's Internet-happy Silicon Valley and eventually making their headquarters in Sunnyvale, California. Yahoo! now has offices not only in the United States but also in Canada, Europe, Asia, Australia, and Latin America.

There you go! Too bad it doesn't tell us how they came up with the name. Bummer!
