Seeking Forgiveness

I had a difficult day yesterday and didn't handle some situations very well. The kids were driving me crazy and we all miss the man in our house. I felt bad about how I responded to the kids so I went in to talk to Mae about it after bedtime.

Me: I'm sorry I was a big fat meanie. Will you forgive me?

Mae: You're not fat.

Well, not exactly the response I was looking for...but thanks for the compliment.

I totally understand. Just this morning Isaac spilled his milk. My reaction was not what it should have been and I also had to apologize. I love that kids are soooo forgiving.

Gotta love em! You are a great Mom for talking to her about it later and asking for her forgiveness. There is a huge lesson to be learned by that! Good job Mom! :D

My wonderful son wrote me this poem for Mother's Day:

My mom
She gets real mean like a mother
But that doesn't bother me
'Cause I still love her.

I think we're having that kind of day here! Thanks for sharing your struggles. And Mae's response is priceless. One of those responses you save to tell her about when her children do something like that.

Wow...not only are you slim and trim, you're an awesome mom for being humble enough to apologize. She'll learn more from that than you realize. I know, because my mom always apologized to me after a fit of fury, and it really stuck with me.

I love kids honesty!! Only the great mommies are willing to admit their mistakes and humble enough to ask for forgiveness. Many days can be difficult, but you took a bad day and created it into a learning day - not only for Mae, but for you too! Way to go!
