Last year for Valentines Day I made heart shaped rice crispy treats for the kids to give out for Valentines. I also had them stamp their own v-day cards (of course this meant that I did all the cutting and gluing of the paper....see, I told you I was cheap!). This year I decided to make heart shaped sugar cookies.
What was I thinking??!
This means for Caleb's class I had to make 12, but Mae's class is what almost put me over the edge. You see, Mae is in a 1st-2nd grade combination class. She basically has two teachers, which means two classes. Translated in valentines is 40 cookies!!!! I think this should certify me as insane, don't you? Why else would I, on my very own, decide to make a total of 52 cookies, put icing on each and every single one, put each and every single one in their very own valentine baggie, then attach a valentine card on each and every one??? See, insanity I tell ya!
Next year I'm going to have to find another way to spread the love without spreading myself too thin!

Amen, girlfriend. I did the same thing this year. But come on, don't you feel a little satisfied now that it's all over? The kids probably loved it!
Woweee! I think as a kid I would have been more excited about getting a yummy homeade cookie vs. a piece of store candy.....Good job Mom..You ROCK!
How do you baking people do it...I just cannot! I envy you! :)

I think they are great...whatever the reason behind them!
I think they're wonderful. I decided the "all out valentines" are an every other year thing. This year was store bought with cheap candy year...nexy year homemade & fancy. Why? Meredith will be in kedergarten and we must start off the school year looking like the good parent. I have alterior motives as well!
But, did you enjoy it? Did you have fun? They look really pretty and festive.
I am sooooo glad that our school has the no homemade foods rule. No pressure!
The cookies do look fabulous and I'm sure your kids appreciated it! :D
Nathan's favorite was the cookie...it's the only one he remembered to eat!
