Table Talk

At dinner this evening Mae had a question for her daddy.

"Dad, can I say the word fart?"

How does one keep a straight face when hearing that? Answer: you don't, it's simply not possible.

So..... what was her Dad's answer?

Oh, that is TOO funny! Chris loves it when Abby says such words, but we haven't gotten that sophisticated yet.

What a fascinating metaphysical question! Does the action, considered rude in some cultures, imbue the word itself with a negative aspect?

Hee hee hee... =P

Yes, what did Ryan say? And you're right, I'm smirking just reading about it. I think fart will be an acceptable word in our house, but not an acceptable dinner conversation topic.

Ryan said 'yes' she could say the word. However I would rather her not, 'toot' is not so, I don't know, crass, especially coming from a 6-year old.

Well at least she asked about it instead of just doing it! :)

Classic moment - and one every household must eventually address. They've come to be called "hiney burps" at our house (through some strange circumstance that I don't even recall) but I'm just waiting for our son to discover the more *fun* version :)
